Research Assistant, Washington University, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (May 1998-present)
- Developed bandwidth provisioning algorithms for the configuration problem for reserved delivery service subnetworks.
- Developed and implemented a high quality video-conferencing system for remote scientific collaboration over broadband wide area networks. The system has been used between institutes over the Internet2.
- Investigated and experimented with the usage of Human Vision System (HVS) in JPEG2000, and its applications in medical images.
- Developed a quality scalable video transmission scheme for Motion-JPEG2000 video streams over the active network environments.
- Investigated and evaluated the advantages of Motion-JPEG2000 in video processing applications.
- Upgraded the Vaudeville video-conferencing system to include ATM proxy signaling in connection setup.
- Contributed to the ACE (Adaptive Communication Environment) project by developing the ATM connection-oriented interfaces on the Windows and Solaris platforms.
- Upgraded kernel device driver of the Matrox Meteor frame grabber for NetBSD.

Research Assistant, Florida International University, School of Computer Science, High Performance Database Research Center (1995-1997)

- Designed and implemented an animated display application that displays the Ozone images from NASA databases.
- Designed and implemented a form generation tool for Oracle database.
- Implemented a pipelined distributed join algorithm for distributed databases.

Research Assistant, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Department of Computer Engineering, (1991-1995)

- Developed and implemented a remote bridge system over the X.25 wide area networks.
- Designed and implemented a network printing application for NetBIOS systems.
- Developed and implemented a distributed relational database query system in Netware network environment.
- Participated in the design and implementation of a computer-based telegram system.
- Designed and implemented a vehicle tracking system for a highway troll system.
- Localized several telecommunication software systems for Chinese users.
- Designed and implemented a software X.25/HDLC protocol analyzer.
- Investigated the application of X.500 protocol in a X.25 wide area network.
