In this class students will study real-time software technology underlying many important systems such as automobiles, cell phones, multimedia devices, and avionics. Topics coved in this semester include real-time scheduling theory, distributed real-time embedded middleware, Quality of Service optimization, and wireless sensor networks. Students will study and critique papers. and perform a system project on a real wireless sensor network testbed.
Prerequisite: Basic knowledge (undergraduate-level course or equivalent) on operating systems and networks. Prior knowledge on embedded and real-time systems is not required.
