I obtained my undergraduate degree from
Pitzer College,
majoring in Applied Mathematics. I attended couses at
Harvey Mudd, Pomona and Pitzer in the Claremont group.
I returned to my native St. Louis to pursue a Masters in
Artificial Intelligence at
Washington University.
My current assignment is being a contract Manager / Analyst for
Exegy Incorporated,
Otherwise,
I am working as a senior research associate
(staff position) for the Department of Computer Science and Engineering here
at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri.
As such, I work in ARL , the
Applied Research Lab, and in
CTS
the local computer support group for computer science.
My research efforts at Exegy involve examining all new I/O subsystems in the SAS, Sata, Fibre Channel and Infiniband spaces. As such, I am the Research and Development Manager. In addition, I keep the Linux and Solaris-10 kernel drivers up to date for the Company's PCI-X and PCI-e FPGA based hardware accelerators. We use the latest AMD Socket-F 1207 based processors, and LSI-8888ELP based SAS disk controllers. The current sustained I/O rate is 2GB/Sec. The Solaris-10 port of TextMiner is complete, and supports multiple Brutus FPGA cards. Each Brutus is capable of 875MB/Sec sustained throughput on PCI-X @ 133MHz.
I am responsible for the multi-platform support of Digital Unix (Tru64 Sadly, this has been retired), Sun Solaris-10 on X86_64, and Linux 2.6.X ala CentOS 4.4 / RedHat 4.4. I also do field testing for various hardware and software vendors. Is there something I can break for you?
As a member of the CTS Firefighting Brigade, I respond to system administration requests for a number of departments and labs in the engineering school. PC and networking hardware cheerfully poked, prodded, and pulled.
As a systems analyst and consultant I have supported diverse operating systems and applications. I count original work ranging from power line transients modeling to hardware and software field testing. Listed in "Who's Who in Finance and Industry".
I possess a Rescue/Stress (SSI) certification in SCUBA obtained at the Bonne Terre lead mine (a billion gallon fish tank). Wanna go down quick?
