Sasakthi Abeysinghe

Advisor: Tao Ju
Office: Lopata 520

My area of research is Computer Graphics focusing on its applicability to bio-medical applications.

Gazihan Alankus

Advisor: Burchan Bayazit
Office: Lopata 525

I am working for Dr. Bayazit since September 2004. My research is focused on character animation, particularly on using motion capture data for motion planning. I also work on simulating sensor networks and using them for navigating robots.

Nuzhet Atay

Advisor: Burchan Bayazit
Office: Lopata 525

My research area is motion planning and robotics. I am currently working on the use of wireless sensor networks in motion planning and using FPGA chips to speed up motion planning algorithms.

Tom Erez

Advisor: Bill Smart
Office: Lopata 513

I work on reinforcement learning in continuous spaces, with a focus on biologically-realistic learning mechanisms; in particular, I am looking for ways to make problems more tractable by "scaffolding" - scaling the problem such that initial success is both easy and instructive towards the harder variant.

Zac Freudenburg

Advisor: Robert Pless
Office: Lopata 520

I enjoy working at the intersection of neural science and computer science. Currently I am working on a brain computer interface (BCI) system that strives to control a semi-autonomous robot with an electrocorticograph (ECoG) acquired brain signal. My goal is to achieve real-time clustering and control signal generation of the brain signal.

Robert Glaubius

Advisor: Bill Smart
Office: Lopata 526

My research objectives focus on broadening the applicability of reinforcement learning strategies in terms of scalability to real state spaces. My current work focuses on improving value-function approximation in reinforcement learning by explicitly modeling the topology of the agent's state space.

Frederick Heckel

Advisor: Bill Smart
Office: Lopata 526

I'm interested in robotics, with an emphasis on human-robot interaction and error detection and self-healing in autonomous systems.

Back

Nathan Jacobs

Advisor: Robert Pless
Office: Lopata 520

My research interests are in the areas of computer vision, data mining and visualization. In particular, I am interested in scene modeling for static cameras and embedding cyclic manifold.

Lu Liu

Advisor: Tao Ju
Office: Lopata 526

I am especially interested in the field of Computer Graphics. Now I am focusing on a project related to medical application, generating a 3D model for bone to analyze the change of the density of bone marrow in it.

Back

Ly Phan

Advisor: Cindy Grimm
Office: Lopata 524

My field of research is computer graphics. I am currently working on using Isomap to parameterize animation data.

Back

Ross Sowell

Advisor: Cindy Grimm
Office: Lopata 513

My field of research is computer graphics, and I am particularly interested in the problem of reconstructing surfaces from medical image data.
