Course Description:
Formerly CS 524S. The topics vary by semester. In Spring 2008, the topics
covered include the recent developments in wireless networking including
Current issues and trends in wireless networking, key wireless physical
layer concepts, wireless personal area networks, Bluetooth, ZigBee, Ultra
wideband (UWB) networks, wireless local area networks, IEEE 802.11 Wi-Fi
networks, wireless metropolitan area networks, IEEE 802.16 WiMAX, cellular
networks: 1G, 2G, 3G, GSM, CDMA2000, WCDMA, EV-DO, and HSPA. Issues related
to quality of service in wireless networks,
mobile IPv4, Mobile IPv6, issues
in ad-hoc
networks, wireless sensor networks,
wireless mesh
networks will also be discussed.
Prerequisites:CSE 473S (Introduction to Computer Networking) or equivalent.
Credits:3 Units.
